Exclusive: According to authorities, a Saturday on the beach turned violent when a couple was approached by another gentlemen, who requested they turn their music down. On September 6th, 2025, Indira VonBuren, was with her ex-husband, William Cavatorta (although she claimed he was her current husband to officers) when the incident occured. He responded to the request by stating they did not speak english.

Approximately 30 minutes later, VanBuren walked approximately 50 yards towards the water to re-approach the victim, at which time a verbal argument ensued, according to arrest reports.

It was at that time that her ex-husband, Cavatorta, joined the argument and allegedly punched the victim in the face, sustaining visible injuries. Arrest reports state that the victim then attempted to defend himself by pushing Cavatorta off and punching back.

According to the arrest report, while the two men were fighing, VonBuren jumped on the victim’s back and wrapped her arms around his neck. An onlooker intervened to separate the parties while they waited for EMS to arrive.

When interviewed by officers, both parties claim that the other threw the first punch, however, an interview of witnesses, plus the assessment by the responding officer that Cavatorta had been drinking heavily and smelled of alcohol, supplied probable cause for the arrest, according to reports. Additionally, Cavatorta told arresting officers that he was mad because the victim used the word ‘f*ck’ when talking to his wife.

Indira VonBuren was also arrested in 2022 for a similar battery charge.
