Todd Hoch, 47, was arrested on August 26th, after authorities claim he defrauded dozens of Sarasota-area home owners, totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. Since, complaints have continued to come in and he now faces similar charges in Charlotte County, with more potentially pending.

Hoch owned a window and door installation company called Sash & Sill since 2022, according to SunBiz.org, having updated his business name again in 2023. The company filed for bankruptcy in June of 2024, but the State Attorney’s office said Hoch did this, while continuing to take funds from new customers. They allege he knew he would not be fulfilling these contracts, a direct violation of bankruptcy provisions. According to attorneys, Hoch also took roughly $350,000 in loans from family members.

The fraud investigation started one year ago, when dozens of people contacted Sarasota County Sherriff’s Office to file complaints, all stating that Hoch had taken deposits for jobs and signed contracts, but never started the work or delivered materials. They also claimed he stopped responding. Investigators learned that Hoch also never pulled the required permits for these projects, another indication that the intention was always to ‘pocket’ these funds.

To date, more than 30 individuals have filed fraud complaints against Hoch, ranging anywhere from $7,000- $73,000. A single reddit thread on Sash and Sill, started over a year ago, has more than 50 comments alone, all asserting the same circumstances of paying funds for work that was never completed- or even started.

One reddit user states, “I went to PGT today to check for myself if our window order was placed from Sash & Sill (who cashed our check in April). The reply from PGT? ā€œI wasn’t able to find anything.ā€

Yes another Reddit user shares, “Contract signed and deposit left in March. I have been trying to contact anyone since the beginning of June via text to my sales rep, voicemails to their office, visits to their office (which always had a sign on the door for different reasons of not being there, and I have sent multiple emails to the email address that the sign on the door said they were still replying to. I eventually got a text back from my sales rep on July 9th stating ā€œI will checkā€ when I asked about my project…then the next day I get the bankruptcy email from the Owner…”

Hoch is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail on a $135,000 bond. His arrangement date is currently set for 9/26/2025, according to court records.
